7 Mujeres en Movimiento

7 Women in Movement

Seven Women in Movement by Myrna Nieves

Translation by Yarisa Colón Torres

A will born out of compassion, love and pride                             Seven women join their talents                                                 Support the motherland in crisis                                                     Assert their place on the planet                                                     Seven flowers from the universe, opened to the world                  With power in their hands                                                                    And trust in the dignified future                                                    Which is their birthright                                                                        They are seven women in movement                                          Determined to inspire art and goodwill

They refuse to give up

They know their people’s strength and beauty                             Seven women moving on behalf of Borinquen

Creating experimental, transformative pieces                          Loving and working with the sun in their eyes

and the moon by their feet

Carmen comes in dancing in a colorful carnival

Minerva exudes coffee aromas mixed with mountain breezes
Myrna evokes dream images in verses and metaphors              Here comes Taína, with her immense spirit and leading visionTanya proudly walks by the Parguera waters

Yarisa cultivates miracles in sprouting seeds

Zaadia conjures vejigantes in a bundle of hues

They are seven women in movement

Earthly makers of images

Birthing stars

They come from New York

To invite enterprises and delights                                                here.

Crean obras experimentales, transformadoras

A levantar empresas y deleites
A honrar su isla, diosa caribeña
Para que abra sus alas
Su resplandor ilumine las generaciones
Para que se levante
Limpia, sana
Victoriosa contra el viento
