A two years journey from a cozy, quaint living room, 7 Puerto Rican women artists evolved into 7 Women in Movement / 7 Mujeres en Movimiento to exhibit at an internationally renowned gallery, Taller Boricua. In 2016, these artisans were emotionally moved by Puerto Rico’s economic crisis which resulted in thousands seeking economic survival in other nations prior to Hurricane Maria. The question was how do artists of various genres use their gifts to stimulate Puerto Rico’s economy from afar and inform the Puerto Rican diaspora to assist in the healing process and slow some of the exodus bleeding from “La Isla de Encanto.” Art, Seeds, Farming, and Tourism = Economic Stimulation and Job Creations was the palette formula, the brushes were the Spears, poetic words were the call to arms, the seeds were the pallets to ensure dirt penetration to plant new life, the mixed materials were there to help with the artistic healing.
